Richard Whitehead MBE is a double Paralympic gold medallist, world record holding marathon runner and one of the UK’s most compelling and inspirational figures in sport, media and social impact.

Born without legs and told sport wasn’t for him, Richard has built a career on defying expectations. A multiple World and Paralympic champion in the T42 200m, he also holds world records in the half and full marathon for double amputees and will shortly complete his 100th marathon later this year, joining the ranks of the most accomplished endurance athletes in the world.

Richard recently starred in the Amazon Prime documentary Dare to Defy, alongside Adele Roberts, and has appeared on ITV’s Splash! (Lifted Entertainment) and Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted, where his determination, humour and humanity shone through. His natural on-camera presence and powerful lived experience make him a unique voice in factual entertainment, sport and motivational storytelling.

Off the track, Richard is a popular keynote speaker and advocate for inclusion, mental resilience and accessible leadership. He has partnered with leading brands such as Nissan and BUPA, using his platform to champion inclusive sport, mobility and social change.  

Richard was awarded an MBE for services to athletics and his continued work in disability sport and advocacy. He also runs the Richard Whitehead Foundation, supporting disabled individuals through sport and mentoring.
