Benn Wiebe is an Owner / Executive Producer of HF Productions where he oversees global film festivals, documentary producing, and brokers strategic partnerships. With offices in Athens, Jakarta, and New York City at the One World Trade Center Tower, Benn and his team have established an international slate of projects that center on creating educational value and opportunities for independent filmmakers. Benn is also a Director for UN Live – Museum for the UN, and Count Us In building creative strategies for social impact and climate based initiatives including for a new live museum being built in Copenhagen for UN Live, and activations with TED Countdown, Extreme E Racing, and CUP26 with professional UK football clubs.
In a further partnership with the United Nations, Benn is an organizer and sits on the jury for the UN SDG’s in Action Film Festival, and of the SONY Picture This Festival for the Planet with Sony Pictures Television. He has been a lecturer and moderator at film schools, SDG workshops, and festivals including at the Festival de Cannes, European Festival Academy, Arctic Film Festival, Oslo Film Festival, Sydney Short Film Festival, Prague Film Awards, and Annual Copenhagen Film Festival.
Benn has also served as a Producer for gaming companies including Sybo Games supporting the most downloaded game in the world Subway Surfers (3 billion downloads), and their digital channel Sybo TV which hosts 5 million subscribers, averages 15 million monthly viewers. Along with other gaming companies, Benn serves on the communications team of UNEP’s Playing for the Planet alliance.
As of 2020 Benn also just had the feature documentary “Beautiful Something Left Behind” on child bereavement produced by Good Company Pictures win the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at SXSW and was Oscar qualified for the 2021 Academy Awards. Before that, Benn served as an Executive Producer of “Women of the Gulag” which was shortlisted for an Oscar at the Academy Awards in 2019.
As a member of the Producers Guild of America international committee, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and Danmarks Film Akademi, Benn has made international projects a focus of his career. He produced the first ever live-stream into China at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards and has produced multiple digital projects for SE Asian outlets.
Benn’s latest work is in building the live broadcast studio for COP26, executive producing “Duty of Care” on 2021 TIME’s 100 most influential member Roger Cox, and serving on the boards of Think-Film, Yea! Impact, Climate Crisis Hub UK, SIE Society, and Global Environment Media (GEM TV).
